problem with re-creating from a pre- 8.5 client

The problem of the settings documents being deleted is one thing and re-creatingt them seems like a reasonable solution. But if they are re- created with a 6.5 client then we seem to hit a bug and the actual policies are not what is implemented - IBM agree that this is a bug and this can only be done with an 8.5 client. if not, then all sorts of strange things happen, as detailed in first posting. This is a real issue to us as most admins are still on 6,5 client. IBM also said that the changes should only be done on an 8.5 server - but we think that this bit is not right - my colleague did them on a 6.5 server with an 8.5 client and they were OK. Hope this makes sense - its 00;40 in the UK now and past bedtime!
